NFL power rankings: 32-team breakdown after the 2018 NFL Draft
By Peter Panacy
Best Pick: WR D.J. Chark, LSU
The Jacksonville Jaguars may have won the 2018 NFL Draft, and they’re already a great team to begin win.
Hence the nice jump up our NFL power rankings.
There weren’t too many needs for the Jags coming off a terrific, defense-first efforts a year ago. Yet that’s the direction Jacksonville chose to go with their first pick, No. 29 overall, selecting Florida defensive tackle Taven Bryan.
If there was a weakness among the Jaguars defense last year, it was against the run. Bryan should help solve that, and he also provides a key rotational piece for one of the best defensive lines in the league right now.
But arguably the best pick came in Round 2, where the Jaguars found a big-bodied receiver in LSU’s D.J. Chark. At 6-foot-3, Chark helps alleviate the losses of wide receivers Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns, giving quarterback Blake Bortles another likable target.
Alabama safety Ronnie Harrison and offensive tackle Will Richardson of NC State won’t have to start right away, but they’re both long-term replacement options for entrenched starters. And both players have plenty of upside to develop.
Nice draft, Jacksonville.
