Best Pick: DB Minkah Fitzpatrick, Alabama

The Miami Dolphins had a pretty good NFL Draft class, although they still fall a spot in our NFL power rankings.

Why? Well, the primary thought is the team would have added a quarterback early to eventually take over duties from the incumbent, Ryan Tannehill, who’s returning this season after a year-long injury in 2017.

Tannehill will hurt for offensive weapons, although grabbing tight end Mike Gesicki in Round 2 should help matters some.

By far, though, the team’s best acquisition was grabbing Alabama defensive back Minkah Fitzpatrick, who fell into the Dolphins’ lap at No. 11 overall. He was projected as an easy top-10 selection, so there’s great value there. And he’ll help transform what has been an underachieving defense in Miami for some time now.

Will it help turn fortunes around for head coach Adam Gase and Co.? Probably not in the short term, but at least there are a few pieces to build around now.
