Best Pick: WR Tre’Quan Smith, Central Florida

The 2018 NFL Draft was more one of luxury for the New Orleans Saints than anything else. That said, their class wasn’t exactly impressive.

New Orleans’ biggest move, of course, was moving up to No. 14 overall in a trade with Green Bay to grab UTSA EDGE Marcus Davenport. Davenport has tremendous potential, but he’s also unrefined and hardly worth the additional first-round pick (2019) the Saints gave up in the process.

Simply put, Davenport is one of those “boom or bust” prospects.

Adding wide receiver Tre’Quan Smith in Round 3 was a bit questionable too, although he’ll likely replace current Saints wideout Brandon Coleman at some point down the line.

Fortunately, the Saints are pretty stacked on both sides of the ball right now, so they don’t have to worry too much about swing-and-miss picks.

Unless quarterback Drew Brees decides to retire after the upcoming season.
