Best Pick: DB Derwin James, Florida State

Don’t look now, but the Los Angeles Chargers are going to be very good in 2018.

They already boast arguably the best pass-rushing tandem in the league, comprised of edge rushers Joey Bosa and Melvin Ingram. And they were able to add prolific defensive back Derwin James, who slipped all the way to No. 17 — far beyond the first-round status most had him at.

James adds to an already solid defensive cast, which also received more depth and long-term replacement players in USC linebacker Uchenna Nwosu from USC, as well as NC State’s Justin Jones in Rounds 2 and 3, respectively.

Adding safety Kyzir White in Round 4 was also a solid move for the secondary, which is about the only weak spot in L.A.’s defense.

With quarterback Philip Rivers still playing well, it wouldn’t be a shock whatsoever to see the Chargers make a run at the AFC West title.
