Best Pick: WR D.J. Moore, Maryland

The Carolina Panthers have been struggling to find quarterback Cam Newton a reliable wide receiver ever since dealing off Kelvin Benjamin. And even he wasn’t viewed as the long-term guy either.

So going with Maryland’s D.J. Moore made too much sense.

Moore, 6-foot-0 and 210 pounds, isn’t the matchup nightmare Benjamin was projected to be. But Moore plays bigger than his stature and is more than capable of winning the 50-50 matchups, therefore being a major asset to Newton and the Panthers offense.

Carolina has also relied heavily upon overachieving defensive backs the past few years, so it wasn’t a shock to see back-to-back draft additions of Donte Jackson (Round 2) and Rashaan Gaulden (Round 3).

Jackson, in particular, is a player worth watching. Not sure if he’ll come in and make a difference right away, but he should be an upgrade over anything the Panthers have on roster a year from now.
