Best Pick: QB Lamar Jackson, Louisville

Baltimore Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome finished up his last NFL Draft, and it’s going to be sad to see him go.

And, of course, he made quite the move by getting back into Round 1 and taking Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson at No. 32 overall. There’s your succession plan for the incumbent, Joe Flacco.

It appears as if Newsome wants to put his final touch on the Ravens roster down the line. Prior to grabbing Jackson, who kept falling on draft day, Baltimore added tight end Hayden Hurst out of South Carolina. Newsome then grabbed Oklahoma TE Mark Andrews in Round 3, followed up by project wide receivers Jaleel Scott and Jordan Lasley to help Jackson out down the road.

There are going to be question marks about Jackson up until the point where he becomes a bona fide franchise-type signal-caller. It’s nothing new, really.

In the meantime, Baltimore will look to its aging-but-effective defense to remain in contention in the physical AFC North.
