Projecting the 49ers offensive depth chart after 2018 NFL Draft
By Bobby Horne
Offensive Line
Starters: Joe Staley, Johnathan Cooper, Weston Richburg, Joshua Garnett, Mike McGlinchey
Backups: Laken Tomlinson, Zane Beadles, Gary Gilliam
Depth: Erik Magnuson, Darrell Williams Jr.
With the 49ers’ first pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, they selected offensive tackle Mike McGlinchey from Notre Dame. It’s safe to say the 49ers want to protect their $137.5 million investment named Jimmy Garoppolo.
This offensive line unit has been completely overhauled, with the exception of perennial Pro Bowl tackle Joe Staley.
Offensive guard Joshua Garnett will be returning from injury, which saw him miss the entire 2017 season. He has been using his off-time wisely, as he has transformed his body with hopes he can become a foundation piece for the 49ers future.
Newly signed free-agent center Weston Richburg is a plug-and-play center and an immediate upgrade at the position.
