Worst Pick: DT Kentavius Street

While defensive tackle Kentavius Street is not necessarily the worst player among all 49ers draftees, his injury is a huge concern.

Street tore his ACL in a pre-draft workout with the New York Giants, according to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport. Street was initially projected as a mid-round pick, but his injury dropped his draft stock tremendously heading into the draft.

However, San Francisco still took a chance on him and drafted him in the fourth round. Street’s injury means he’ll likely miss his entire rookie year, which raises several questions as to why he was picked.

The Niners could have addressed their need at EDGE with Florida State’s Josh Sweat or Oklahoma’s Ogbonnia Okoronko still available at that time. But, John Lynch and the front office instead chose Street, who looks to be a rotational defensive end at best.

Throughout his college career, Street did record 19 tackles for loss and eight sacks. Although even with these numbers, there is not much juice to get excited about.
