Winner: Baker Mayfield

The Browns made the right choice at No. 1.

I’ve referenced in many of my draft pieces Baker Mayfield is the clear-cut best quarterback in the NFL Draft.

However, many experts disagreed, saying that Sam Darnold out of USC and Josh Allen out of Wyoming were better than Mayfield. Many thought that the Browns were higher on both of them than Mayfield.

But no. The Browns picked the right guy — Mayfield. It was a shocker to me for two reasons. One: I thought the Browns would take Darnold. Two: I was surprised the Browns actually picked the right quarterback.

Mayfield will shed the bust-quarterback label off the Browns. The confidence that he is sure to gain from being the first quarterback selected in the draft will undoubtedly contribute to that mission.
