No. 3: Week 14 vs. Denver Broncos

Just think, two years ago, this would have been almost an impossible matchup for the 49ers.

Now, the Denver Broncos are reeling and the Niners are trending upward.

The Broncos hoped to have solved their ongoing quarterback dilemma by adding former Minnesota Vikings QB Case Keenum in free agency this offseason. Keenum enjoyed a career year in 2017, although one could argue that had more to do with his surrounding cast. And at 30 years old, this is more likely the case as opposed to him being a “late bloomer.”

Either way, Keenum is an upgrade at the position. And that’s good for Denver. The problem, though, is the Broncos have been forced to strip down some of the pieces that made them a defensive powerhouse the past few years.

One of those key components, cornerback Aqib Talib, is now with the Niners’ division rivals, the Los Angeles Rams. And while there are plenty of other defensive standouts on Denver’s roster, the Broncos offense probably won’t be good enough to give its counterpart adequate rest.

No, San Francisco will wear down Denver in this showdown, doing so relatively easily.
