San Francisco 49ers: Final 7-round mock before the 2018 NFL Draft
By Peter Panacy
Some may argue a quality pass-rusher is the 49ers’ top need in this year’s NFL Draft.
Perhaps, especially after San Francisco finished 2017 tied for 26th with 30 sacks. And with no clear-cut option at defensive coordinator Robert Saleh’s LEO spot, one would expect John Lynch to use an early pick on a good pass-rusher.
Georgia’s Lorenzo Carter isn’t quite as refined as some of the big-name edge rushers in this year’s draft. But his 6-foot-6, 250-pound frame is imposing enough. And he has the sideline-to-sideline abilities to suggest he’s way more than just a situational pass-rusher.
Plus, the Niners have already arranged a visit with Carter, per NBC Sports Bay Area’s Matt Maiocco.
Carter helps solve a key need. And with some coaching up, adding to the variety of his pass-rushing moves, he could wind up being a true find on day two of the draft.
