team. 50. . . Previous: . Detroit Lions. 18

How will things go for first-year head coach Matt Patricia and the Detroit Lions this season?

It’s hard to say. On one hand, the Lions’ actions in free agency were meh, at best, and the team didn’t exactly make any strides to improve this offseason.

In fairness, Detroit didn’t exactly have the cap space to do so. Quarterback Matthew Stafford commands a ton of it, and placing the franchise tag on EDGE Ezekiel Ansah took up a lot as well.

The running game, which has been stagnant in Detroit for years, could get a boost from former Eagles tailback LeGarrette Blount. But that’s still a bit more of a wait-and-see move than anything else.

If anything, look for Patricia and general manager Bob Quinn to stockpile as many weapons as possible on the defensive side of the ball. Considering the rest of the division, that would be the best way for the Lions to compete in 2018.
