NFL power rankings: Final 32-team breakdown ahead of the 2018 draft
By Peter Panacy
It’s hard to gauge exactly what the Raiders will be in 2018. On one hand, they landed their guy in head coach Jon Gruden. But some of his early roster moves have left many wondering if he’s a good hire in name only.
Seriously, it’s not 1998.
The team parted ways with punter Marquette King because of his personality, which is odd. And replacing Michael Crabtree with an aging, less-effective wide receiver in Jordy Nelson was weird too.
But hey, Doug Martin, right?
The good news, and the primary reason a 6-10 Raiders team won’t be any lower in our NFL power rankings, is quarterback Derek Carr is still young and capable from bouncing back from a bad 2017. If Gruden can work some quarterback magic here, along with some much-needed defensive additions in the draft, we could still see a nice Raiders turnaround this season.
