NFL power rankings: Final 32-team breakdown ahead of the 2018 draft
By Peter Panacy
Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott previously noted his team wasn’t going to release quarterback Tyrod Taylor.
Instead, they traded him. Semantics, one might say.
With Taylor gone, one of Buffalo’s best offensive weapons now gives way to offseason pickup, quarterback A.J. McCarron. That doesn’t exactly inspire a lot of confidence, especially for a team that reached the playoffs last year. If anything, it’s a step in the wrong direction.
The Bills did stockpile a number of draft picks last year, though, and used that to move up to the No. 12 spot in the NFL Draft. Logic dictates the only reason would be to land one of the top quarterbacks in this year’s draft class, although many of the upper-echelon ones are likely gone by that time.
That is, of course, if the Bills don’t move up again.
Still, this offseason suggests the Bills hurt their chances more than improved the roster. But we’ll see.
