Running Back. Alabama. Bo Scarbrough. 184. player. 42.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan has two running backs on his roster ideally fit for his outside-zone, pass-catching scheme — Matt Breida and Jerick McKinnon.

Alabama’s Bo Scarbrough doesn’t exactly fit the mold. He’s not a pass catcher, and he’s more of an in-between-the-tackles runner.

Yet that’s something that could be of use to Shanahan, especially on short-yardage situations. Scarbrough gives the Niners offense a different look.

EDGE. Central Michigan. Joe Ostman. 223. player. 42.

When you think you’ve landed enough pass-rushers, go get another.

That’s the case with Central Michigan EDGE Joe Ostman, who recorded a whopping 13 sacks his senior year.

He didn’t get an invite to the NFL Scouting Combine, but still has some worthy commendation heading towards the draft itself. And at 6-foot-3 and 255 pounds, Ostman has some value as a LEO-type situational pass-rusher.

player. 42. . Cornerback. Clemson. Ryan Carter. 240

The 49ers grabbed one cornerback earlier, Holton Hill, but the lack of depth at the position suggest’s they’ll add another.

At 5-foot-9 and 180 pounds, Clemson’s Ryan Carter would be an adequate backup and developmental piece to play behind the Niners’ current nickel back, K’Waun Williams.

If Carter’s development continues nicely, Williams would become an excess piece in a few years when his current contract runs out.
