Ronald Jones II, USC

Once again, emphasizing Kyle Shanahan’s offensive scheme of working on the perimeter; focusing on the outside-zone blocking scheme where the running back makes one cut and gets vertical up field.

Ronald Jones II out of USC is the epitome for Shanahan’s attack.

At 5-foot-11, 200 pounds of outstanding athletic ability, Jones displays his home run-hitting skills to the likes of Jamaal Charles.  Able to strike pay dirt every time he touches the ball, Jones is a big-time back capable and deserving to be on the 49ers roster.

The USC running back pulled up with a strained hamstring on his first and only 40-yard dash attempt on Friday. He ran a 4.66, unofficially, after pulling up 20 yards into his dash.

Hamstrings ding-a-lings, who cares. There is enough tape on the former Trojan to know and understand that he is the real deal. Despite his injury, Jones is slated to come off the board early in the second round.

I doubt the 49ers can land this young man, but if trading down secures second-round picks, then Jones would make a beautiful piece for Shanahan’s offense.
