Auburn. Carlton Davis. 31. player. 47. . Cornerback

The New England Patriots dealt away quarterbacks Jimmy Garoppolo and Jacoby Brissett last season, and head coach Bill Belichick will be tasked yet again for finding an eventual heir apparent for future Hall of Fame QB Tom Brady.

Yet the value for a quarterback isn’t quite there at No. 31 overall, and it wouldn’t be a shock to see Belichick use the NFL Draft pick acquired from the 49ers to grab a signal-caller in Round 2.

With cornerback Malcolm Butler about to hit free agency, the Pats need to grab someone capable of starting on day one.

Auburn’s Carlton Davis, a three-year starter, is a nice candidate to slot in right here. At 6-foot-1 and 203 pounds, he has the size to operate effectively enough on the outside. And his coverage skills are certainly worth a starting role right away.
