At 39 years old, quarterback Drew Brees is getting very close to the end of his NFL career.

The future Hall of Famer might have a year or two left playing at a high level, which is fine. But that doesn’t mean the New Orleans Saints shouldn’t start thinking about his eventual replacement relatively soon.

Oklahoma State QB Mason Rudolph is likely more of a day-two prospect right now, although a strong NFL Scouting Combine could change things between now and draft day. Still, Rudolph would be a nice quarterback to groom behind one of the best signal-callers in recent NFL history.

And with the Saints suddenly surging back towards the upper echelon of the league last year, he’d be learning from a playoff-caliber supporting cast.

That never hurts.
