linebacker. Alabama. Rashaan Evans. 22. player. 16.

Back-to-back picks in the NFL Draft are never bad things, and the Bills can turn their second first-round pick to focus on the defensive side of the ball.

This was the pick acquired in the Chiefs’ trade-up last year to acquire quarterback Patrick Mahomes, and the Bills turn that pick into a linebacker find in Alabama’s Rashaan Evans.

Evans, who assumed many of the duties left by his former Crimson Tide teammate, Reuben Foster, might not be quite as rangy or possess the same playmaking abilities. But Evans still has a solid pedigree and the sideline-to-sideline traits scouts covet for this position.

With Evans a versatile asset, the Bills can look to build a similar defense in the mold Sean McDermott had when he was defensive coordinator with the Carolina Panthers not long ago.
