The Cowboys won’t let edge rusher Demarcus Lawrence leave via free agency, and they’ll slap the franchise tag before it ever happens. Pairing Lawrence with 2017 NFL Draftee, EDGE Taco Charlton, means the Cowboys are pretty much set with their outside pass rush.

What’s needed is an interior presence, and Michigan defensive tackle Maurice Hurst makes a lot of sense here.

Hurst, at 6-foot-2 and 280 pounds, might be a bit undersized for an every-down role. But he’s solid enough against the run and also offers up a good interior pass rush as well, as his 10.5 sacks the last two seasons indicate.

A strong performance during strength drills at the NFL Scouting Combine should make Dallas feel much more comfortable with this pickup.
