Pick No. 21 to No. 25: Donte Jackson, Cornerback, LSU

Well, we already looked at one cornerback named Jackson, so why not another?

I already said in the Joshua Jackson slide about how someone to pair with Witherspoon is a priority so there’s not much to about why this pick makes sense, so let’s look at Jackson (Donte not Joshua again).

Jackson is lightning fast, and can go head to head with the speediest receivers. While he doesn’t have the best interception record (just one this season) he has broken up nine passes while providing excellent coverage. He isn’t perfect and requires coaching up to get his full potential, but it’s very easy to see him be the No. 2 cornerback for the 49ers.

They can also consider

If the Niners have confidence in their coaching, they may take someone for the second year in a row who has dropped due to behavioral concerns, LSU EDGE Arden Key.

I’ve written before that I hope the Niners stay away, but that doesn’t mean they (or you, the reader) agree. Key has a skillet worthy of a top-10 pick, and he may be too good to pass up here.
