NFL power rankings: Final post-Super Bowl LII standings around the league
By Peter Panacy
So the Indianapolis Colts won out on the sweepstakes for soon-to-be former New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels.
That’s a big hire. Pairing him with a strong general manager, Chris Ballard, should indicate some positive time ahead in Indy.
McDaniels to the Colts is the reason this team moves up over the Giants in our NFL power rankings. The only question is whether or not McDaniels will have learned from his unsuccessful previous run as a head coach, back with the Denver Broncos, or if he reverts back to the issues that got him into trouble there in the first place.
Fortunately enough, McDaniels and Ballard already have a number of key pieces in place. There are some nice contributors on the defensive side of the ball. And, let’s hope he’s healthy, quarterback Andrew Luck should be expected to return from a shoulder injury that kept him out all of 2017.
With over $82 million in cap space, Indianapolis also has some sway to lure in free-agent talent. Especially anyone with ties to McDaniels and/or Ballard, previously.
