35. . . Previous: . Tennessee Titans. 17. team

One of those teams the 49ers upset late last season was the Tennessee Titans.

Like the Bills, the Titans managed to squeak into the postseason. And while their upset Wild Card victory over the Kansas City Chiefs was impressive, the subsequent 35-14 loss to the Patriots in the Divisional Round revealed just how low this team should be ranked in our NFL power rankings.

That loss, plus his antiquated offensive game plan, led to the post-loss firing of head coach Mike Mularkey, giving way to former Houston Texans defensive coordinator Mike Vrabel.

Vrabel is an interesting hire and has certainly risen up the ranks in coaching circles the last couple of years. He’ll inherit the league’s 13th-ranked scoring defense from a year ago, but he and his staff’s work with quarterback Marcus Mariota and the offense will be the main focus.

We’ll see if former first-round draftee, wide receiver Corey Davis, finally avoids the injury bug and becomes a major contributor in 2018.

If so, the Titans might be able to improve upon what was something of a down year from Mariota and Co.

With just over $50 million in cap space and their entire dispersal of draft picks, the Titans should be in decent shape.
