No. 21: Jerry Rice’s Last Home Game with the 49ers & Terrell Owens’ Breakout

Hall of Fame wide receiver Jerry Rice had built up, with little doubt, the most noteworthy of resumes during his tenure in San Francisco.

But his time with the 49ers came to an end at the tail end of the 2000 season against the Chicago Bears in Week 16.

Rice posted seven receptions for 76 yards, but the legendary wideout was overshadowed during the game by the up-and-coming wide receiver Terrell Owens.

Owens hauled in 283 yards on 20 receptions — setting an NFL record at the time.

Rice would sign with the Oakland Raiders the following year, while Owens had fully cemented himself as the team’s No. 1 receiver.
