Denver Broncos

Who They Get: Kirk Cousins (Redskins)

It’s pretty clear Denver Broncos general manager John Elway’s attempts to fill the void left by retired quarterback Peyton Manning haven’t worked out. Brock Osweiler? No. Trevor Siemian? No. Paxton Lynch? Maybe, but likely no.

One could argue quarterback is the lone need holding this still-talented group back despite a 5-11 finish and last-place berth in the AFC West.

And with almost $27 million in available cap space, it’s not impossible to make a splashy free-agent signing, like that of landing Washington Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins.

Who knows what happens between Cousins and the Redskins after being tagged two years in a row. A third tag is possible, but it would cost Washington about $34 million. Yikes!

Plus, the still-messy situation could point to an eventual departure this NFL offseason anyway. But why Cousins to Denver?

Well, Broncos linebacker Brandon Marshall liked the idea, saying, “We played against a guy in Week 16 [Cousins] that was pretty good.” And Denver7’s Troy Renck thinks it’s a serious possibility:

It’ll cost a lot, and the Broncos would have to clear some additional space. But look for this move to be very serious if Cousins leaves Washington.
