No. 10: Reuben Foster Tackles Running Back Christian McCaffrey for a Loss

When it happened: Week 1 vs. Carolina Panthers

It didn’t take long for the 49ers to realize they had something special in rookie linebacker Reuben Foster.

Three plays into the Niners’ 2017 campaign, as they were hosting the visiting Carolina Panthers, Foster perfectly read and reacted too a dump-off pass from Panthers quarterback Cam Newton to rookie running back Christian McCaffrey.

Foster converged quickly, bringing the elusive runner down for a four-yard loss:

The linebacker was all over the place during his mere 11 snaps during the game, unfortunately departing the contest with a high-ankle sprain.

That injury would keep him out until Week 7, where he’d make another stellar play against the Dallas Cowboys.
