13. . Offensive Tackle. Notre Dame. Mike McGlinchey. 17. player

The Los Angeles Chargers may be able to ride out quarterback Philip Rivers’ effectiveness over the next couple of years, or so, although it would be wise to start thinking about an eventual replacement for the 36-year-old veteran.

If the former is the case, L.A. will want to find some players capable of protecting Rivers next season.

What’s needed is help at offensive tackle. And Notre Dame’s Mike McGlinchey is certainly worth the selection here at No. 16 overall.

McGlinchey’s presence, combined with a healthy return of the Chargers’ second-round pick from a year ago, offensive guard Forrest Lamp, should make the offensive line much more effective than what we saw this season.

And it will help keep Rivers upright too — never a bad thing.
