No. 5: RB Jay Ajayi (PHI) $5,000 @ New York Giants

The trade from Miami has not exactly been great for Jay Ajayi and his fantasy football owners this season. He is now involved in what seems to be a four or five headed backfield in Philadelphia. No running back can be relevant in daily fantasy football splitting carries five ways, but this is the week that all changes.

The Eagles need to ride Ajayi to the playoff with Wentz out for the season. They can not ask Foles to throw the ball forty times and expect to win this week. Ajayi has proven he can handle 25-plus touches from his time in Miami. That needs to be the Philadelphia gameplan moving forward.

The Giants defense is poor at almost all aspects of the game, but especially at defending the zone running game that the Eagles run with Ajayi. They have been winning despite not getting much from Ajayi, but now they have to rely on him to carry this offense.

The other running backs on the Eagles will most likely stay involved, but Ajayi has to become the main guy. Clement and Blount are solid running backs, but neither can truly carry this team the way Ajayi can. The Eagles offense has to switch dramatically to be a running team and that has to start this weekend.

Ajayi’s usage was trending in the right direction before Wentz’s injury regardless. He saw his most carries since join the team last week with fifteen.

Daily fantasy football players need to take advantage of his low price while they still can. Last season Ajayi wss consistently the best running back on DraftKings, but players have forgotten that. He is still just as talented and now he is getting the rushes to prove it. Look for the Eagles to ride Ajayi through the end of the season just as you should for your daily fantasy football lineups.

Other options: TE Greg Olsen (CAR) $4,000 vs Green Bay and WR Dede Westbrook (JAX) $5,100 vs Houston.
