Houston Texans at Jacksonville Jaguars

The Houston Texans may not be picking in Round 1 of the NFL Draft as of now, but that doesn’t mean their remaining games won’t have a say in the order.

Remember how Cleveland owns Houston’s first-round pick this year? That was the deal for Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson in the 2017 draft.

At any rate, the 4-9 Texans sit at No. 5 and are fresh off a 26-16 loss to the 49ers. Head-to-head matchups don’t matter in determining draft order, rather the strength of schedule is the next tie-breaker.

Houston’s SOS is still higher than that of the Niners (1.20), and one could argue that climbs after facing the 9-4 Jacksonville Jaguars this week.

A Texans win would do wonders for San Francisco staying put and not dropping any further. But a loss isn’t the worst thing either, considering the comparative SOS.

Pull for a Houston upset, but don’t worry if it doesn’t happen.
