L, 24-21 vs. Lions. Previous: . Tampa Bay Buccaneers. 29. team. 48.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers came into 2017 as one of the possible sleeper teams to watch in the NFC South.

And they’re wrapping up the year on a whimper.

Tampa Bay’s 24-21 loss to the Detroit Lions, who were starting a banged-up Matthew Stafford at quarterback, marked the latest in a long line of underachieving losses that have led to one of the bigger disappointments this season.

Quarterback Jameis Winston has been OK, at best, and Sunday was no different. The running game stinks, and there’s nothing resembling a pass rush.

It’s going to be best for the Bucs to simply start over next season.

Biggest Question

Tampa Bay is armed with some talent on both sides of the ball, but the inability to put it all into cohesion largely falls on head coach Dirk Koetter. Is his job safe after such a dismal year?

Probably not.
