Left Guard Laken Tomlinson
While Zane Beadles isn’t a long-term answer, we should certainly be saying the same thing about left guard Laken Tomlinson.
Tomlinson’s struggles have continued all season, and Week 14 versus Houston didn’t provide any signs of improvement.
Especially in penalties.
Tomlinson was guilty of two holding calls during the game, and one of those came on a key red-zone drive:
Laken Tomlinson with 2 penalties in 5 plays for 49ers. Lions fans feel that pain.

Overall on the season, Tomlinson owns a 48.5 overall grade, per Pro Football Focus, which ranks 41st out of 77 qualifying offensive guards. Sure, he’s been playing a fill-in role during second-year pro Joshua Garnett’s knee injury.
But to say Tomlinson has a major role with the team beyond this season is a bit of a stretch.
