Offensive Lineman Zane Beadles
Starting right tackle Trent Brown missed the game with a shoulder injury. And with undrafted rookie Erik Magnuson (shoulder) on injured reserve, the 49ers were forced to start veteran offensive lineman Zane Beadles in Brown’s stead.
It didn’t exactly go well.
Beadles found himself lining up Texans pass-rusher Jadeveon Clowney, who regularly blew past Beadles and into the backfield. Clowney blew up a number of plays, registering four quarterback hits and two tackles for a loss.
And Beadles didn’t exactly handle his remaining assignments much better either:
From @PFF, #49ers LG Zane Beadles allowed sack, QB hit and four hurries while finishing with the lowest grade of any guard so far in Week 1.

Beadles made the 49ers roster this season due to his versatility to play both tackle and guard spots, even doubling as a backup center if need be. While he’s signed through 2018, it wouldn’t be a shock to see San Francisco look for an upgrade to supplement the depth this offseason.
