NFL power rankings: Breaking down all 32 teams’ standings in Week 14
By Peter Panacy
For almost the entirety of 2017, the Chicago Bears’ offensive philosophy has been to put the ball in the hands of running back Jordan Howard and let rookie quarterback Mitchell Trubisky make only high-percentage throws.
But the 49ers did an excellent job bottling up Howard to the tune of 38 yards on 13 carries, and Trubisky wasn’t quite able to put Chicago’s offense on his shoulders.
The Bears’ usually stout defense didn’t help matters either, as their own offense was outgained 388 yards to 147. Although rookie return man Tarik Cohen had a pretty cool 61-yard punt return for a touchdown.
That was about the only explosive play Chicago enjoyed, and we have to start wondering if head coach John Fox feels good about his job security heading into 2018.
