New York Giants. 31. team. 31. . L, 24-17 at Raiders. Previous:

For the first time in what seems like forever, quarterback Eli Manning did not get the start for the New York Giants — a controversial decision by head coach Ben McAdoo.

McAdoo, perhaps predictably, has now been fired. And it wasn’t exactly a fair position to put in backup QB Geno Smith on a team with so many problems on both sides of the ball. But Smith wasn’t terrible, going 21-of-32 for 212 yards and a touchdown.

Not saying he’s a franchise savior, but he certainly exceeded expectations.

Regardless, the Giants are still bad. And their 24-17 loss to the Oakland Raiders is just another example of how hard this team has fallen.

A full rebuild is now pending.
