Fantasy football: Start-em, sit-em players for Week 13
By Jay Marsdale
Start-em: Dede Westbrook (JAX) vs. Indianapolis
This is a name the casual football fan may not know yet, but everyone will. Dede Westbrook is a rookie this season and is set to have a big impact over this final month and a half for the Jaguars offense.
Westbrook was in the Heisman discussion last year before entering the NFL. His skill set transfers well to the NFL game, but he hasn’t been given a chance to show what he can do until recently. He finally saw some opportunity when receiver Allen Hurns went down with an injury a few weeks ago. His role has grown over the last two weeks and he is set for a breakout game this week.
He boldly predicted that he would have a 200-yard game in his first NFL game earlier this month. Clearly that didn’t happen, but that kind of confidence is hard to find and makes Westbrook very intriguing in Week 13. I am not calling for a 200-yard game this week either, but 100 yards and a touchdown is not out of the realm of possibility.
If you are in need of a deep league wide receiver start, Westbrook is it. Indianapolis is always a defense to pick on in fantasy football, and this week that is Westbrook’s matchup. Every team going against the Jaguars are going to stop the run at all costs. Westbrook and the other remaining Jaguars wideouts are going to need to get the Jaguars an important win this weekend.
Other options: Cordarrelle Patterson (OAK) vs. New York Giants and Tyreek Hill (KC) @ New York Jets
