Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo

Newly acquired quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo saw just three snaps on Sunday, but at least all went for positive yardage. This, after he came in for starting quarterback C.J. Beathard, who suffered a knee and hip injury at the 1:07 mark of the fourth quarter.

His first was a four-yard scramble, backed up by two completed passes, the last of which was a 10-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Louis Murphy:

This was clearly the best moment for 49ers fans in an otherwise lackluster performance, which prompts the question — does Garoppolo start in Week 13 against the Chicago Bears and beyond?

Head coach Kyle Shanahan has repeatedly indicated he won’t rush Garoppolo into the fray. But this small sample size could be enough to convince the head coach Garoppolo is the guy to roll with under center.

Or, in other words, how can Shanahan go back to Beathard now?
