49ers stock report after Week 12 loss to Seahawks

49ers Run Defense
Remember a year ago when the 49ers couldn’t stop anybody on the ground?
Well, the Niners are still giving up a ton of rushing yards — 1,425 through 13 weeks, which ranks third most in the NFL. But that’s more due to other teams being ahead, milking the clock and running the ball to do so.
The stat that should matter for San Francisco is yards per attempt. Here, the 49ers are allowing 3.9 yards per carry, which is tied for ninth best in the league with the Seahawks and Carolina Panthers.
And both those other teams have vastly superior defenses than San Francisco.
This trend continued in Week 12, as the 49ers held Seattle’s leading rusher, Eddie Lacy, to just 46 yards on 17 carries. Overall, the Seahawks managed just 90 yards on 30 attempts — an average of 3.0 yards per carry, if you can’t do the complex math.
While the Niners did allow a rushing touchdown to quarterback Russell Wilson, this stat line is certainly promising for a run-stopping group that was atrocious just a short year ago.
