EDGE. Maryland. Yannick Ngakoue. 3. player. 42.

Original Player Selected: CB Will Redmond

The pass rush was a major issue for the 49ers in 2015, as then-head coach Jim Tomsula’s squad finished with just 28 sacks, ranking 29th in the NFL.

Not having an elite-level pass-rusher hurt in a number of ways, and this pick would have been better off spent on former Maryland pass-rusher Yannick Ngakoue, whom the Jacksonville Jaguars selected with the very next pick.

Ngakoue is now sitting pretty with 17-career sacks over just 26 games played, and it’s looking like he’s going to be an excellent edge rusher for the Jags for a long, long time.
