2018 NFL Draft: Breaking down the top need for each team
By Peter Panacy
After years of futility, the Jacksonville Jaguars are finally relevant and, you know, good this season.
Most of this has to do with the moves the Jags made to upgrade their defense the last two offseasons. Those are paying off handsomely now, and weapons like running back Leonard Fournette provide promise for the future.
But there’s a glaring weakness at quarterback.
If you’re a regular visitor to Niner Noise, you’ll know we’re not fans of Blake Bortles. Few are. Well, maybe the Jaguars were when they picked up his fifth-year option for 2018, but even the most casual of football fans know he’s not the answer.
Jacksonville would be smart to use what looks to be a late first-round pick in the NFL Draft to tab a quarterback — someone who can spend a rookie season developing behind what looks to be Bortles’ final year in a Jaguars uniform.
The window is opening for Jacksonville, and a quarterback would truly put this team at a higher level.
