No. 3: EDGE Elvis Dumervil Records Two Sacks

The Niners have lacked edge pressure all season long. Despite some positives from the defensive line’s interior, namely DeForest Buckner, getting some production off the edge would vastly increase San Francisco’s chances in Week 10.

Veteran pass-rusher Elvis Dumervil leads the 49ers in sacks this season, albeit a relatively low total with 3.5. But with fellow EDGEs Arik Armstead (hand, IR) and Aaron Lynch (calf) not in the picture, Dumervil will get his chances against a suspect Giants offensive line.

Namely, left tackle Ereck Flowers.

Per Pro Football Focus, Flowers has already allowed four sacks and 23 quarterback pressures on the season.

While the right side of New York’s O-line has been a primary weakness, Flowers’ own struggles should invite San Francisco’s pass rush to gain some momentum over the course of the game.

And without the Giants’ best receiving weapons — Odell Beckham Jr. (ankle), Brandon Marshall (ankle) and Sterling Shephard (ankle) — either on injured reserve or recovering, quarterback Eli Manning’s passing efforts will be all the more difficult.
