The past two seasons have revealed the Oakland Raiders’ offensive line isn’t quite as good as we initially thought. Two serious injuries to quarterback Derek Carr (leg, back) in back-to-back years mandates a serious need to protect Oakand’s quarterback in coming years.
The Raiders’ 2017 campaign has been a disappointment, and one might think general manager Reggie McKenzie uses a top pick to address a number of concerns on the defensive side of the ball.
But bringing in a player like Notre Dame offensive tackle Mike McGlinchey is a move too good to pass up. He’s easily the best outside blocker in the NFL Draft and is a cornerstone O-line piece to replace veteran tackle Donald Penn in the near future.
Worry about the defense with later picks. McGlinchey is too good to pass up.
