52. . Quarterback. Oklahoma. Baker Mayfield. 21. player

The Jacksonville Jaguars started to realize they can win games without their quarterback, Blake Bortles, shouldering the load. Moving forward, they want to have a signal-caller capable of operating the defense.

Bortles is going to be around next season, meaning whichever quarterback the Jags select in the NFL Draft won’t have to be rushed into the fray. But with Oklahoma State’s Mason Rudolph already off the board, the next plausible target would be Rudolph’s rival, Baker Mayfield from Oklahoma.

Mayfield is a polarizing prospect. At 6-foot-1 and 218 pounds, he’s short. And Oklahoma’s offense isn’t quite what you’d want for an NFL-ready scheme. But the tangibles are there for a solid pro talent. Just ask Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller.

There are some character concerns with Mayfield, and going at No. 21 might be a reach. But it’s likely the Jaguars want to find a quarterback fitting a play-action, run-heavy offense.

Mayfield can do that.
