NFL power rankings: Packers tumble in Week 7 after Aaron Rodgers injury

Yes, the Rams get a pretty hefty bump in this week’s NFL power rankings after going into Jacksonville and handling a tough Jaguars defense in Week 6.

The Rams got a workmanlike effort from quarterback Jared Goff, who did his part by not making any mistakes. And head coach Sean McVay put his offensive trust in third-year running back Todd Gurley, who rushed for 116 yards over the course of the game.

More impressively, though, L.A. held Jacksonville to a 4-of-15 mark on third downs, which is a great indication defensive coordinator Wade Phillips’ group is starting to come into its own.

That’s what happens when your defense registers five sacks.

It’s hard to say whether or not the Rams stay this high, but let’s admit they’re pretty darned good this season.
