It’s becoming clear each week the Arizona Cardinals are closer to the 7-8-1 team we saw a year ago and not the bunch that went to the NFC Championship game the year before.

Arizona was walloped by the Philadelphia Eagles 34-7 in Week 5, and the once-mighty Cardinals defense had zero answers for Philly quarterback Carson Wentz and Co. The Cardinals gave up nine third-down conversions on 14 attempts an allowed 122 rushing yards in the process.

Flipping the script, Arizona’s offense clearly misses running back David Johnson (wrist). Veteran quarterback Carson Palmer simply isn’t good enough to put the offense on his shoulders, even though he tried on 44 passing attempts.

In a “glass half full” mindset, at least no one is running away with the NFC West right now.
