Kansas City Chiefs. 1. team. 124. . 5-0.

Kansas City is the real deal this season, and there are plenty of reasons why the Chiefs remain No. 1 in our power rankings heading into Week 6.

The Chiefs own the best scoring offense in the NFL (164) and are second best in total yards gained (2,071). These numbers were certainly inflated after dropping 42 points on the road against the Texans on Sunday Night Football.

And for those who criticized quarterback Alex Smith earlier this offseason, chew on this stat from Pro Football Focus:

Smith and his receiving targets, Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce, have been fun to watch. But the biggest offensive storyline has been rookie running back Kareem Hunt, who added to his budding résumé with another 107 yards on the ground.

All this against one of the most elite defenses the NFL has to offer. And on the road.

It would have been nice to see Kansas City’s defense limit Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson and Co., which might raise some questions a bit. Regardless, holding Houston to a 3-of-10 mark on third downs is good enough to note.

Things are good for the Chiefs right now, and head coach Andy Reid would like to keep it that way against the Steelers in Week 6.
