NFL power rankings: Chiefs stay hot in Week 6, 49ers stay low
By Peter Panacy
Wait, so how is it the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are ranked this high in our NFL power rankings despite being last place in the NFC South?
Well, the schedule hasn’t helped the Bucs cause, and hosting the still-dangerous New England Patriots on Thursday Night Football wasn’t a favor from the schedule makers either.
In fairness, the Buccaneers battled the Pats to a 19-14 hard-fought loss, staging a valiant comeback in the fourth quarter. And one can only think what the outcome would have been had kicker Nick Folk made any one of his three field-goal attempts.
He missed all of them, by the way.
We’re still waiting for quarterback Jameis Winston to take the next step towards being a top-tier signal-caller at this level. It isn’t as if he lacks the weaponry, we just haven’t seen it.
If the Buccaneers’ struggles continue into Week 6 against the Cardinals, it’s certainly worth moving the team a lot further down in our rankings.
