No. 5: Stopping Quarterback Jacoby Brissett

Overall, the 49ers have done a fair job limiting opposing quarterbacks, outside of their Week 3 shootout loss to quarterback Jared Goff and the Los Angeles Rams, of course.

Last week, the Niners managed to sack Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer six times and also posted 16 quarterback hits. As a result, Palmer’s passer rating on the day was 83.5 — not terrible, but certainly not a game-changing number.

Colts fill-in quarterback Jacoby Brissett offers a vastly different skill set and is a bit more elusive than Palmer, to say the least.

But that doesn’t mean he’s immune to pressure.

Brissett’s passer rating over four games this season is 80.2. According to Pro Football Focus, though, the young quarterback’s rating drops down to 43.8 — No. 28 of 32 qualifying quarterbacks — when facing pressure.

And get this — Indianapolis has already allowed 14 sacks through four weeks. While San Francisco’s pass rush hasn’t exactly been dominant thus far, it’s pretty safe to say there’s another opportunity for this group against a questionable Colts offensive line.
