NFL power rankings: Week 5 sees 49ers stay low, a new team at No. 1

All seems to be right in the world when the Steelers defense is ranked within the top five.

And that’s the case after Week 4, with head coach Mike Tomlin’s group at No. 2 in both points allowed (59) and yards against (1,068).

OK, so the Steelers benefited from playing the offensively challenged Ravens in Week 4. But keep in mind this key AFC North battle was in Baltimore, so give the Steelers credit for that.

It was finally nice to see running back Le’Veon Bell get back on track after a sluggish start to 2017. He finished with 144 rushing yards and two touchdowns — indicative of the kind of numbers we expected from him earlier this year.

Pittsburgh’s defense, combined with a potent offense, could be enough to get the Steelers back into serious Super Bowl contention.

The Steelers host the Jaguars in Week 5, which could point Tomlin’s squad in either direction of our NFL power rankings a week from now.
