I’m not so sure the 49ers have their answers at cornerback heading into 2017.

Second-year corner Rashard Robinson seems to have regressed after a promising rookie season, registering a lackluster 34.9 overall grade through three games, per Pro Football Focus.

And this year’s third-round NFL Draft pickup, Ahkello Witherspoon, has yet to be active.

It wouldn’t be a shock for general manager John Lynch to use another pick to solve his secondary problems this upcoming offseason. And Oklahoma’s Jordan Thomas would be a perfect option at the beginning of Round 3.

Thomas has some serious red flags, so the Niners will have to do their research here. But he also has the one-on-one matchup capability and ballhawk skills the 49ers secondary has lacked for a long time.

He had five interceptions back in 2015 and added another two last year.

At 6-foot-0 and 185 pounds, the height is there to match up against medium-sized receivers. And considering Thomas can play both the outside and nickel positions, San Francisco should be able to work him in slowly his rookie season.
