No. 2: Wide Receiver Marquise Goodwin

The Niners offense has been frustrating to watch, and a key problem has been wide receiver Marquise Goodwin.

Goodwin has dropped two key passes in critical moments in Weeks 1 and 2, and we have yet to see the explosive abilities he flashed during training camp and the preseason.

Week 3 could provide the speedy Goodwin a chance to do some good, though.

With Rams No. 1 cornerback Trumaine Johnson focused on wide receiver Pierre Garcon, Goodwin will either be facing Los Angeles’ No. 2 cornerback, Kayvon Webster, or Dominique Hatfield.

Webster (shoulder) wasn’t active for the Rams in Week 2, and he’s currently listed as questionable heading into Thursday’s game. It’s worth pointing out the 26 year old didn’t practice on Monday either.

Hatfield has seen just 10 snaps this season. So, if Webster is unable to play, targeting Hatfield might be a wise move for head coach Kyle Shanahan.

This means getting Goodwin involved early and often. One big play could easily make up for the mistakes San Francisco’s wideout has made over the first two games.
